New additions to this section include photos of our Citizen of the Year, Deputy of the Year, and Certificates of Appreciation. The Wood County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that we are the first Sheriff's Office in West Virginia to implement a new technology to help locate lost or abducted children. As of March 2, 2006 we will be able to take a digital photo of a child's iris and working with the Nation's Missing Children Organization, they can be entered into a secure national database. A missing child can be positively identified nationwide in as little as 5 seconds using this technology! Click on the "NEWS" section for more information or go to the "LINKS" section to go to the Child Project web site.
