For those with kids in college, you are very well aware of the high prices of textbooks, that is why we'de like to share with you this great online resource to find cheap textbooks with ease - either for purchase or rental.

The Wood County Deputy Sheriff's Association would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all of the generous citizens and businesses who have contributed to our various projects such as Bikes for Tykes, Children's Picnic, and our fundraising Golf Tournament.

Photos of some of our projects and donors will be listed in our Photos section. New additions to this section include photos of our Citizen of the Year, Deputy of the Year, and Certificates of Appreciation. The latest certificate has gone to Burl Smith, a local citizen and avid golfer who graciously built and donated a brand new set of Golf Clubs to give away at our yearly fundraising golf tournament.

There was a presentation by Joel Murtha on the importance of the bread winners of the family being protected by a life insurance policy. The differences between term life insurance and whole life insurance were discussed, plus many other important points. Read a full text of it on our monthly newsletter. Also we'll be discussing what to look for if you are a senior and need a life insurance policy to cover final expenses, pay debts, etc.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that we are the first Sheriff's Office in West Virginia to implement a new technology to help locate lost or abducted children. As of March 2, 2006 we will be able to take a digital photo of a child's iris and working with the Nation's Missing Children Organization, they can be entered into a secure national database. A missing child can be positively identified nationwide in as little as 5 seconds using this technology! Click on the "NEWS" section for more information or go to the "LINKS" section to go to the Child Project web site.

** This month's "Ask a Deputy" features information from the WV State Firearms Laws concerning purchase, possession, and carrying of Firearms in WV. If you have an article that you would like to know more about, feel free to suggest a topic on our Ask a Deputy page.

**Please feel free to contact us to submit a link to a web site in our "links" section.**

Thanks to all for helping make the 2007 Bikes for Tikes a huge success. Thanks also to the local U.S. Marine Toys for Tots program, several area families were able to have a better Christmas this year because of your efforts.
